STRATEGIC
WACOL SITE SOLD FOR $1.52 MILLION
A STRATEGIC land holding
with a two storey residence in the fast growing Wacol industrial precinct in
Brisbane’s western corridor has been sold for $1.52 million.
The property on a land area
of 9831 sqm opposite the new Richlands train station at 317 Progress Road,
Wacol, was sold by Janine Bell of Ray White Industrial M1 North.
Building and civil
contractors FK Gardner and Sons have acquired the site with the intent to relocate
their plant and equipment there.
Ms Bell said the property
was sold post-auction just 30 days after being on the market.
“We had solid interest in
this offering with 12 inspections and three registered bidders at the auction,”
she said.
“The property didn’t sell
under the hammer but it was secured within a few days of the auction. The price
at $154.60 per sqm was a good result.”
Ms Bell said the property
was in a prime location with 50m frontage to Progress Rd and easy access to the
Centenary Highway, Ipswich Motorway and Logan Motorway.
Only 500 metres from the
nearly completed 56,000 sqm Komatsu site
Ms Bell said with the resources
sector continuing to expand, Wacol is growing in popularity for major trucking,
earthmoving, storage and manufacturing businesses.
“Wacol is set to benefit
from the $1.5 billion, 93ha Metroplex on Westgate commercial development, which
has the potential to provide around 10,000 jobs,” she said.
“The recent upgrade of the
Ipswich Motorway and Centenary Highway has added considerably to the
convenience and appeal of Wacol. The area has attracted major developments by Komatsu
as well as smallgoods manufacturer Primo and Hitachi Construction Machinery.”
