In July 2008 I was fortunate to attend the Ray White Commercial New York Study Tour. On reflection, it was possibly the most fascinating and informative event of its kind that I have attended.
From a professional point of view we were given an insight into property trends in the United States and more particularly the unique market that is Manhattan. Given the timing of the tour we also saw some glimpses of what was emerging in the financial sector before the bubble well and truly burst.
Leading property and finance speakers provided detailed analysis of recent developments and their expectations for the US markets, but it was what we saw outside of the “class room” that made the trip most memorable. We were provided “behind the scenes” access to amazing projects like 7 World Trade Centre and the latest residential developments at the Plaza Hotel and in Greenwich Village.
It was a hectic few days but we managed to experience a great deal and see a side of the city we wouldn’t have otherwise seen. The pace was New York style but the tour organisers ensured there was a lot of fun had along the way. Not a moment was wasted, we were always well looked after and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity.
We invite all our Ray White Group members and the Tokyo curious
to participate in our 2009 Study Tour.

Ray White Commercial Study Tour’s visit a large array of the world’s most dynamic property markets, the group inspects major retail, office, residential and mixed use developments and met with the City’s leading developers. It is a great educational experience and an opportunity to strengthen relationships with other commercial offices in the network.
As a Commercial Agent, the Study Tour of Dubai was a fantastic experience, to see the magnitude and speed of development in this Middle Eastern Country was a real eye opener. It was great to meet their developers and selling agents as you can certainly learn a lot from their way of marketing and developing.
It was a real bonding opportunity and to feel part of a real team. I achieved and learnt more than expected and came back with a world of knowledge and of course more importantly strong relationships with other commercial offices within our network.
The Mumbai study tour gave me a fantastic insight into the whole property market and insight into the opportunity to discuss ideas with some of Ray White’s leading commercial principals is invaluable. Count me in for all future tours.
I was very fortunate to join the Ray White Commercial team on their New York Study Tour in 2008. Mark and his team did a fantastic job organising every aspect, covering the business, social and cultural interests of such a global city and with particular context to the commercial property industry. From presentations from leading New York property and finance executives on the US and global markets, to cocktail parties, bike and boat tours and numerous inspections of the latest world leading commercial and residential projects. One of many highlights was meeting the development representatives of the World Trade Centre Site and hearing about the issues in creating a project as significant as Freedom Tower with the world and the US watching
every move they make.
